Cordelia uses the Pearl to drain Oceana’s energy and transfer it to a forgotten undersea kingdom called , where rejected sea creatures and banished mermaids live. She promises them strength, but instead turns them into emotionless guardians of the Trench.

Oceana is restored. Cordelia is pardoned and becomes the new head of Oceana’s Reef Restoration Corps , working alongside exiled sea creatures now welcomed home. Merliah returns to the surface with a new surfboard shaped like a seashell—a gift from Cordelia.
