Winter is the postcard version of Munnar. The skies are crystal blue, the famous Neelakurinji flowers (which bloom every 12 years) are absent, but the tea gardens are a vibrant emerald green. The mist rolls in during the evenings, making bonfires a necessity.

While the rest of India is boiling at 40°C (104°F), Munnar remains refreshingly cool. The days are sunny and warm, but the nights are still chilly.

The rain transforms Munnar into a dripping, misty, emerald dream. The waterfalls roar to life, the tea shoots are at their freshest, and the crowds vanish.
