The tonal whiplash here is deliberate. One minute we’re watching a life-or-death sword fight, the next we’re watching Rukia try to boss Ichigo around from the inside of his closet. This blend of high-stakes drama and slapstick comedy is what Bleach does best. The B-plot introduces a grieving mother and the spirit of her young son, Sora.
