It has been over a decade since we first checked into the chaotic, heartwarming, and lion-filled family suite at South Africa’s “Giraffe with a Broken Neck” hotel. Blended (2014)—directed by Frank Coraci and starring the iconic duo of Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore—wasn’t a critical darling, but it found its audience. It was the third collaboration between the pair after The Wedding Singer (1998) and 50 First Dates (2004), and fans have been clamoring for a fourth.
A Blended 2 could work if it follows the 50 First Dates model—same chemistry, totally new location, higher stakes. We want to see Sandler and Barrymore navigate a family of seven (plus exes) stuck on a zip-line or lost in a jungle.
The kids are older—teens and young adults. Jim’s sporting goods store has likely expanded into a small chain. Lauren’s interior design business is booming. But the chaos has only grown.
