If last week was about emotional fallout, this week is about high-octane, panic-room insanity. The MacGuffin of the hour? An —or Magnetic Particle Camera. What is an MPC? (And why should you care?) For those not in the know (or those who missed Vinnie’s manic whiteboard explanation), an MPC is a multi-million pound scanner used to map underground pipework. But in Brassic logic, it’s the perfect tool to locate a rumored buried safe from the 1980s hidden under a disused petrol station.

The final shot—Vinnie walking away from the burning tech warehouse, holding the briefcase with the camera, backlit by emergency lights—is pure rock and roll. He got the tech. But at what cost? (Hint: It involves a farmer, a shotgun, and a very angry sheep in the post-credits scene.)

Just when you think the lads from Hawley have scraped the bottom of the barrel, they dig a new one. Episode 5 of the new season, which I’m dubbing "The MPC Job," proves that technology is the most dangerous drug of all.
