In the golden age of high-definition adult cinema (roughly 2005–2012), two studios dominated the luxury niche: Wicked Pictures (story-driven romance) and Digital Playground (tech-forward, high-gloss spectacle). Among Digital Playground’s crown jewels sits Jetsetters , a 2009 release that encapsulates everything the studio did right—and the subtle fault lines that would eventually reshape the industry. Released on DVD and Blu-ray in October 2009, Jetsetters was directed by the legendary Robby D., the creative force behind Digital Playground’s "Contract Superstar" era. The premise was deceptively simple: a group of impossibly wealthy, impossibly attractive young people traverse global hotspots (Dubai, Monaco, Aspen) via a private Gulfstream jet. However, the high production became a double-edged sword. Critics (both fans and journalists) noted that the film spends almost 40% of its runtime on travelogue shots, bikini montages, and product placement (real Moët & Chandon bottles appear in every scene). Some called it “foreplay for architecture students.” Upon release, Jetsetters won three AVN Awards: Best High-End All-Sex Release , Best Cinematography (for the jet interior shots), and Best Music .
