Georgie’s carefully curated playlist (90s country) is vetoed by Audrey (“Too twangy”). Connor keeps asking if they’re “there yet.” Baby CeeCee spits up on Georgie’s only clean shirt. Mandy tries to mediate but ends up snapping: “This isn’t a trip – it’s a hostage situation.” First laugh line: Georgie mutters, “I should’ve just bought her a vacuum cleaner.”

Connor, watching from the window, calls his girlfriend to apologize. Audrey texts her estranged husband: “We need to talk.”

They stop at a rundown diner. Connor reveals he told his girlfriend they’re moving to Oklahoma – a lie. Audrey confesses she came because she’s lonely since Mandy’s dad left for a “business trip” that’s lasted three months. Mandy realizes her parents are separating. Georgie, awkwardly, offers Audrey a pickle from his plate. She eats it. They almost laugh.

They arrive at sunset. The lake house is tiny – one bedroom. Georgie gives Mandy the bed, he’ll take the couch. Audrey volunteers to watch CeeCee so Georgie and Mandy can sit on the dock alone. For the first time all day, it’s quiet. Mandy rests her head on his shoulder. Georgie says, “This isn’t the trip I planned.” Mandy replies, “No. It’s better. Because we’re still here.”

Meanwhile, Mandy confronts Georgie in the parking lot: “You planned this to fix us, but you didn’t even ask what I need.” Georgie admits he’s terrified she’ll leave him like his dad left Missy. Mandy softens: “I’m not going anywhere. But stop trying to be perfect. Just be here.”

Mandy is skeptical but agrees. However, as they pack, her mother, Audrey (Rachel Bay Jones), invites herself along to “help with baby CeeCee.” Georgie grits his teeth. Then, Mandy’s brother Connor (Dougie Baldwin) shows up unannounced after a fight with his girlfriend, needing a ride “out of town.” The car is now a packed sedan: Georgie driving, Mandy in passenger seat, Audrey and Connor in back with the baby.
