They tumble out into a dark Panamanian alley. They’ve escaped Sona. Outside, they run into a nearby sewer maintenance shed. Michael immediately says: “We go separate ways.” He plans to find Sara (who he thinks is dead) and Lincoln. Sucre refuses to leave Michael. Bellick, however, is a liability — he’s wearing a prison jumpsuit and has nowhere to go.

Let’s set the scene.

Michael triggers a distraction: he uses a makeshift explosive in the power room. Lights flicker. Guards outside panic. Inside, Sammy goes after Michael. They surface inside a drainage culvert just outside the prison wall. But there’s a problem: the exit is a vertical iron grate ten feet above a concrete channel. Guards patrol above with spotlights. They have to climb a rusted pipe without making noise.

But here’s the clever twist: Minutes after escaping, Sucre is shot in the shoulder by a Company sniper (while helping Michael). Bellick runs off alone, steals a truck, and hides in the jungle. He later turns himself in to the US Embassy, cutting a deal for immunity in exchange for information on The Company.
