It explores the linguistic meaning of khatam , the classical exegesis (tafsir) of these verses, and the theological consensus (ijma’) on the implications of finality—namely, the cessation of prophethood and new scriptures. 1. Introduction In Islam, belief in all prophets is obligatory, but the belief that Prophet Muhammad is the last of them is a non-negotiable article of faith.
