Grizzlebeak dove hard and fast — but his powerful kicks sent up a cloud of bubbles that attracted three beetles. He fought them off but surfaced gasping. Quilla used silent leg strokes and won the round easily. Paddles simply closed his good eye, listened to the beetles’ hunting clicks, and swam toward them — because beetles never expect prey to come closer. They scattered in confusion.
