Realmi C51 -

Abstract The Realme C51, launched in September 2023, represents a strategic effort to dominate the ultra-budget smartphone segment (under $120). This paper examines the device’s hardware specifications, design philosophy, and software experience. It highlights how Realme balances cost constraints with premium-like features (e.g., a “Mini Capsule” notification UI and a 90Hz display) to attract first-time smartphone users and price-sensitive markets in regions like Southeast Asia, India, and Africa. 1. Introduction In highly competitive emerging markets, the sub-$150 smartphone category demands a delicate trade-off between performance, build quality, and novelty. The Realme C51 aims to disrupt this segment by borrowing design cues from higher-end Realme “Number” series devices while introducing software gimmicks typically absent in this price bracket. 2. Design and Build Quality Dimensions & Materials: The device measures 167.2 x 76.7 x 8 mm and weighs approximately 186g. It features a plastic back with a “mini-woven fabric texture” to improve grip and reduce fingerprint visibility, distinguishing it from glossy, cheaper alternatives.
