Representors Fixed (2027)

Representors are the dark matter of cognitive science—theoretically necessary for most of our best explanations, yet empirically elusive and conceptually problematic. The field will likely retain them as heuristic devices while searching for a more grounded, non-representational alternative. For now, representors are dead; long live representors. Recommended for: Graduate students in philosophy of mind and cognitive science who need a balanced, critical overview of mental representation. Avoid if you are a strict Gibsonian or radical enactive theorist—you will find this review too generous.
