Note: Roy Baumeister has not written a dedicated book or paper specifically titled “Cuckolding Psychology.” However, his foundational theories on sexuality, selfhood, and masochism provide a powerful framework for understanding the apparent paradox of cuckolding: why would a man derive pleasure from what appears to be a deep social and sexual humiliation? Cuckolding, as a consensual adult practice, presents a puzzle for evolutionary and social psychology. On the surface, it violates core male reproductive imperatives (certainty of paternity) and social status hierarchies (dominance, possessiveness). Yet, for a subset of men, watching or knowing their partner with another man is intensely arousing.
