That legendary, light, dry powder snow is back for the 2023 season. After a few years of travel uncertainty, the Land of the Rising Sun has fully reopened its arms (and its ski lifts) to international travelers.

The window from December 26 to January 3 is peak pricing. If you want the deep stuff without the lift lines, target the last week of January or the first week of February.

As of October 2023, Japan has dropped most COVID restrictions. However, you still need to use Visit Japan Web (the digital immigration/customs clearance) before you fly. Do not skip this.
