When Windows returned, everything was… the same. But different. The Recycle Bin icon was now a tiny 3D dumpster on fire. His mouse cursor left a trail of sparkles. And on his desktop, a new icon: a golden wizard’s staff.
The video finished. It was five seconds long. It was the most beautiful, chaotic, unwatchable thing ever created. He wept.
He hit Render .
He tried to close the program. The X button laughed—a deep, Dmitri-coded belly laugh. The wizard on the icon was no longer grinning. He was frowning, sympathetically.
He disabled his antivirus—which had begun whimpering—and ran the installer.
