1. Introduction and Context Stațiunea Flacăra (The Flame Resort) was one of the most iconic and ambitious holiday complexes built during the Ceaușescu era (1965–1989) in Romania. Located in the Dâmbovicioara Valley , in the heart of the Piatra Craiului Mountains (Argeș County), the resort was officially named “Flacăra” but was popularly known by its tourism slogan: “Vacanța la Nisa” (The Holiday in Nice).
