Clark confronts Sam, who admits he was studying the effects but didn’t act because he saw it as a potential weapon against hostile aliens. This strains Clark’s trust in the military. Lois continues digging into Morgan Edge’s past. She discovers that “Morgan Edge” is a fake identity created by Tal-Rho after he escaped the Arctic Fortress decades ago. With help from Chrissy Beppo (the Smallville Gazette editor), Lois finds evidence that Edge’s shell company bought up half the town long before the mines reopened—proving the plan was decades in the making.
