In simple terms, Arcanoi are the supernatural disciplines of Wraiths. They are the specific arts that allow a soul to interact with the world. Because you no longer have a body, you cannot punch a Spectre, open a living person’s door, or build a fortress in the Shadowlands without using these powers.
