Wrong Turn X264 Review

The intended command was: ffmpeg -i source.mov -c:v libx264 -profile:v high -level 4.0 output.mp4

– Started encode of Scene 4 using x264. Attempted to use --tune grain to preserve film noise. 23:50 – Realized I took a wrong turn. Forgot to set --profile high10 . The 8-bit encode is crushing my blacks. 23:55 – Aborted encode. Output is useless. Wasting 2 hours re-doing with correct 10-bit flags. Note to self: Do not touch x264 params while tired. wrong turn x264
