Because S07E06 is heavily influenced by 1990s sitcom lighting and blocking. The garish fluorescent lighting of the university dorm, the muddy earth tones of the church basement, and the grainy texture of the apartment’s wallpaper are all visual cues that mimic the low-resolution analog video of the late 80s/early 90s (the era Young Sheldon is set in). This plotline is the episode’s comedic engine. Meemaw, masquerading as Sheldon’s “legal guardian” (complete with a forged note and a pink tracksuit), storms into the university housing office. She doesn’t argue with logic; she argues with chaos. She threatens to sue for “emotional damages caused by a urinal cake that looks like a frown.”
