Arjun’s family consists of his principled father (Anupam Kher), his worried mother (Sushma Seth), and his younger siblings. Despite his qualifications, Arjun fails to get a job due to a lack of connections and rampant corruption. His frustration grows as he witnesses the powerful underworld don (Amrish Puri) and his rival Daga (Prem Chopra) rule the city with impunity, exploiting the poor, controlling the police, and manipulating the system.

The trigger for Arjun’s transformation is personal tragedy. After a series of humiliations and the death of a close friend at the hands of Shakal’s men, Arjun realizes that peaceful protests and legal recourse are useless. He decides to take the law into his own hands. He gathers a small gang of his loyal, equally disillusioned friends from the neighborhood—including the hot-headed Jimmy (Bob Christo) and others—and wages a one-man war against Shakal’s empire.
